Bowled Over Beauty
PANKHURI & KRUNAL
Dec 2017 | Mumbai, India
It was a matter of pure luck when Pankhuri bumped into cricketer Hardik Pandya during one of her event management stints and he decided to pick up the phone to introduce her to his brother Krunal for some work. Krunal met Pankhuri soon after and they both got along like a house on fire in their very first meeting.
Months of friendship soon paved way for romantic dates and before they knew, they began to belong to each other in an honest way. They had fostered a companionship where they could discuss just about anything in the world without the fear of being judged. In him, she had found a friend, lover and soul mate and together they were ready to walk hand-in-hand through each others’ battles and insecurities in life.
He proposed to his lady love on the night he clinched the title of “Man of the match” at the finals of IPL 2017 as it was the most important day of his life. She almost missed the proposal while trying to shield her face from the cake that she thought would land on her face! She finally said yes and as they charmed their way into each other’s hearts, they made the world around a little brighter, a little rosier and a lot more fun with their infectious enthusiasm and laughter.
When Pankhuri contacted us to film her wedding, we met up with a beautiful, soft spoken person with innocent, warm and smiling eyes. Ten minutes into the conversation we knew we had to film this wedding and our meeting with Krunal cemented that gut feeling. In the process, we’ve made friends with two of the most genuine people we’ve come across. The festivities took place in Mumbai at a three day energetic extravaganza of fun, friends & laughter.
The Haldi
The Haldi ceremony was an intimate poolside affair with minimalistic décor. The sparkling blues of the pool complemented the hues of blues and pinks over a yellow canvas. The bride-to-be Pankhuri decided to keep it casual and wore a striking yellow suit. The ceremony soon turned into a pool party as the Pandya brothers ganged up to throw an unsuspecting Hardik into the pool, splashing water and laughter all around.
The Mehendi
Later that evening, the fun and madness continued into the Mehendi event. Pankhuri donned a beautiful yellow-orange Banarasi silk lehenga while Krunal complemented her with an ochre Kurta. It was no secret that the two were head over heels in love, and they did not shy away from going all out to express it.
The Sangeet
This wedding had been all about dance and music all along, and this event took it to a new high. Pankhuri dazzled in red with a zari and stone embroidered lehenga - just the right dose of bling for the evening while Krunal went for a monotone instead - an all-black look, complete with a jacket.
After the ring ceremony, mandatory performances and games, the crowd broke into a party that could bring down the roof! Their energy and exuberance knew no bounds as we went clickety clack with our cameras.
The Chooda
Pankhuri’s chooda was an intimate, close-knit and emotional ceremony with only her close family and friends around. The room was a plethora of emotions - giggles and moist eyes. Lots of loud laughter punctuated by silent tears. It was the realisation that this was happening for real - all those precious years of courtship were culminating into the magical knot forever.
The Baraat
Krunal chose to wear a powder blue sherwani with floral details for the wedding ceremony. As the families proceeded for the baraat, younger brother Hardik Pandya played chauffeur as they rode a quirkily decked up Royal Enfield to the venue.
The Bridal Dressup & Wedding Ceremony
Pankhuri looked gorgeous in a red, heavily embroidered lehenga and we were in awe of her gleaming smile as she walked down the aisle. The mandap was a dreamy white cascade featuring redolent tuberoses suspended from the ceiling and made for the perfect setting. One could not help but notice the couple’s playful, child-like innocence throughout, as they chuckled and laughed while the ceremony took place.
The Reception
In the world of cricket, Krunal Pandya is one of the most genuine, team oriented and loved players both on and off the field. Ask people close to him and you’ll see them talk about him in a way they talk about about a loved elder brother and a respected mentor.
A single interaction with Pankhuri too, and you realise the warmth and charm in her persona. Perhaps this was the very reason that their reception saw so many guests coming in to congratulate and bless the newly weds.
Pankhuri wore a deep maroon, heavily embroidered lehenga while Krunal opted for a short black bandhgala jacket with details in gold. Like every other event, this one would have been incomplete without the mandatory afterparty, and so everyone kept up with the tradition and partied like there was no tomorrow ending the wedding on a high and happy note!
